Unsigned Berlin (podcast) caught the talented directress Ana Vardi for an interview at our festival. Ana won the Best Low Budget category with aLex vs aLex video “See me 4 the first time”. This award is known to be a very challenging one, for directors who are very creative with means.

This video is the modern interpretation of the classic romantic fantasy, catching the eye of a lover for the first time on the commuter train (as long as it’s not on Berlin-Neukölln’s U8 line). This video had the BMVA jury feeling giddy and angsty at the same time. The phenomenal colour grading, the creative editing, the great performance, all coming together under a small budget? That’s a recipe for a Best Low Budget winner right there. No wonder the BMVAs sent “aLex vs aLex – see me 4 the first time” home with a trophy this year!
